The bid has hit the Andhra Pradesh to make it as a hub for electric vehicles in the country. This will be a force to make the state eco-friendly. Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. – EESL came to an agreement to invest almost Rs.10,000 crore in the state. It also has a target to produce one lac electric vehicles in the next five years including 4000 electric chargers for AP’s various departments. Once the deal signs up between the government of AP and EESL, an estimated of over 1.05 lac employers will make their job done in the state. Moreover, the electric vehicles will use around 10,000 vehicles for official purpose.

Aim of Naidu and EESL

In Sunday’s teleconference N Chandrababu Naidu has asked the energy department to come up with an action plan to lease and use the electric vehicles.

Naidu said, “All government departments should go for e-vehicles. The plan would later be extended to the private sector as well. Andhra Pradesh ranked #1 in ease of doing business, energy efficiency, promotion of renewable energy sources. And also has the 24×7 quality power supply. We should create a world record even in the usage of e-vehicles.”

 Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, EESL India said, “The Indian government alone has demand for half a million electric vehicles. Switching these (to electric vehicles) will stimulate demand and initiate market transformation. Enabling this transformation with an innovative business model is important to a sustainable future.”
At the end of December, Tata Motors, in fact, has delivered their electric vehicle to EESL as part of their initiative to provide 10,000 electric vehicles.
