The time came for Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio to reunite with Quentin Tarantino and starring in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – the latest feature of the filmmaker. Sony pictures had made this announcement yesterday.
Quentin Tarantino Aiming for Oscar?
Tarantino describes the story – a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”
Globally, the film will be released on August 9, 2019. The movie, indeed, the studio’s an expensive proposition and involved the stars for weeks. DiCaprio may walk away at a point of time in January, the sources say.
But Sony has the ambition to receive Oscar based on the previous collaborations of the actors with Tarantino and also hoping to become a successful one.
Pitt and Quentin Tarantino worked earlier in Inglourious Basterds in 2009. The movie has received almost $321 million worldwide and it received eight Academy Award. Th best supporting actor award was received by Christoph Waltz.
DiCaprio also starred in filmmaker’s s Django Unchained. This too, in fact, won the Oscar with two wins and five nominations. “I’ve been working on this script for five years. As well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old,” Tarantino said Wednesday in a statement. “I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that doesn’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”
