Every day is a new record for the multi-starrer movie. The box-office collection on the seventh day has crossed the benchmark of Rs 500 Cr worldwide. Considering the performance and audience enthusiasm, they never die. The film is likely expected to cross more.
In fact, Shankar’s Hindi dubbed 2.0 became the second highest grossing film. Surpassing Bahubali: The Beginning, the film has received 9.50 Crore by Wednesday totalling to 132 crores.
Earlier, Shankar mentioned quoted, “My heart full thanks to the audience who have lapped up #2point0 and celebrated and made it a huge success, and to all the media who supported and respected the hard work of our team, and to my whole team who have given a piece of their life to 2.0.” The Hindi version has opened at Rs 20.25 Crore and the film was on a pace even during weekdays.
Considering the success of 2.0, Shankar wrote: “#2Point0 sets new benchmarks…* Is now second highest grossing *Hindi dubbed* film, surpassing *lifetime biz* of #Baahubali [first part]. * Rajnikanth’s highest grossing film ever [#Hindi]. * Will emerge Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing film today [Thu; Day 8]. HINDI version”
The team has a plan to release in 10,000 theatres across China in May 2019. However, the film has received a few mixed reviews from critics. Especially, the Indian Express critic, Shubhra Gupta stated, “2.0 is dull as ditchwater in the first half, perking up a little in the second, with a half-way watchable Akshay, and a Rajini coming into his own right towards the end, for a bit. There are some oh-wow moments, but on the whole, the film is not worth all the sound and fury.”
