An engineering student, 21-year-old, approached a private hospital to abort a child who was 20-weeks old. A case had registered against Anusha Maternity Hospital and Nursing home. Because abortions for 20-week-old-pregnant must happen under the court’s allowance.

21-Year-Old Death –

The Super indent of the hospital, Girija Rani agreed to perform an abortion when Harika and her partner Madhu approached the hospital with an amount of Rs.20000.

Soon after excess bleeding, she shifted to Dilsukhnagar’s hospital where she went dead. A dharna raised by the family members on Anusha Hospital for screwed abortion.

“Irrespective of whether the affair between the girl and her boyfriend was legal or illegal, conducting abortion is a crime. We have booked a case under Section 312 (causing miscarriage). The case also comes under 314 (death caused by act done with intent to cause miscarriage) of the IPC,” police inspector S Murali Krishna said.

The police started questioning Girija Rani and Madhu started questioning. An autopsy is carried out in the Osmania Hospital. “We are also verifying whether the hospital has violated the guidelines of Indian Medical Council and District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) for conducting the abortions,” the police said.
