IBM’s annual conference have shown something massive – World’s smallest computer. It is so small than anybody can think. It has computing power equivalent to the x86 chip which was introduced in 1990. However, this chip might not close to the powerful chips used in today’s world. But IBM has an intense intention to become the data source for blockchain-based applications.

According to IBM blog post on its research, World’s smallest computer will have a million transistors and as part of Crypto anchor program, it is an outcome. IBM explained enabling of blockchain usage in physical products such as a chocolate box or a wine bottle with the help of cryptographic anchors. These anchors will work as the watermark of digital security to make counterfeits in the product.

Alongside, IBM also has an intention to manufacture World’s smallest computer set with 10 cent cost. Indeed the estimated production cost would be lower than what IBM had said while meeting its achievement. Moreover, it should not be complex to get adapted to it.

According to the head research of IBM, Arvind Krishna – the Crypto anchors are just beginning. “Within the next five years, cryptographic anchors — such as ink dots or tiny computers smaller than a grain of salt — will be embedded in everyday objects and devices,” he said.

While the computer is a research project as of now. It is one of the five predicted turning Technologies will take a turn in coming five years, IBM believes so. Sooner, the mass production of the world’s smallest computer will begin.
